I refer to the Federal Government requirement that all sheep and goats will be required to be electronically tagged as of 1 January 2025, and I ask: (a) what is the time frame for the rollout of identification tags in Western Australia; and (b) will the State Government be providing any funding to farmers to enable the smooth implementation of the policy?

a) The Australian Agriculture Ministers (AMM) have agreed to support a national transition to eID for sheep and goats, with all jurisdictions working toward a 1 January 2025 implementation date.
b) In December 2022, the State Government announced $3.4 million in funding to support the initial stages of the eID rollout in Western Australia (WA). The State Government is currently considering further contributions as part of the 2023-24 State Budget.
