DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION — BUDGET
626. Mr I.C. BLAYNEY to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
Mr D.J. Kelly : Ask about the hospital.
Mr I.C. BLAYNEY : We are all waiting for the hospital.
The SPEAKER : Minister for Water, I call you to order
for the first time.
Mr I.C. BLAYNEY : Given the Premier's blackflip
on eight of the government's education cuts, when will he complete the
rest of his backflips in order to keep the promise he made before the election?

I am not sure about that English, member for Geraldton. He
might want to get that checked. The truth of the matter is that we are
investing a great deal in education across Western Australia, including in the
regions. I touched on it, but the science classroom program is a very exciting
program. Although only $17 million is being spent in schools all over regional Western
Australia, students are having their minds expanded and their opportunities
expanded in the study of science. I want to close on this note: the opposition
has run down Sue Ellery a lot. She is deeply committed to the education and
training of Western Australians across this state. She is a very talented
person and a very talented minister. The education portfolio, as I well know,
is not an easy portfolio, but she is showing the passion that I think parents
and the education workforce want to see, and she is doing a terrific job.
The SPEAKER : That is the end of question time.
