I refer to the 2014 Rottnest Channel Swim and information I received that the water at the toilet block near the Kingstown Barracks was turned off during the swim and I ask: (a) can the Minister detail whether the water supply to a toilet block near the Kingstown Barracks was tuned off during the weekend of the 2014 Rottnest Channel Swim; (b) if yes to (a), why was the water at this toilet block was turned off on the busiest day of the year, and was water supply interrupted to any other facilities on the Island; (c) how many visitors were estimated on the Island on the weekend of the 2014 Channel Swim, and how does this compare to the weekends before and after the swim; (d) what effect did the interruption to water supply have to people using public amenities; and (e) is the water supply on the Island not coping with current demand?

(a)-(b) The isolation of the water supply to the public ablutions at the Army Jetty, near the Kingstown Barracks, was unauthorised. It has not been possible to determine who was responsible for isolating the water supply to this facility, however, no other facilities on the Island were interrupted.
