Yesterday in answer to my question on the effect of the goods and services tax on the racing industry, the minister said that he had not raised the matter with the Federal Government and that it would be considered by the announced review. (1) Is the minister aware that the arts community and the agricultural industry have been given special treatment with respect to the impact of the GST? (2) Will he now reconsider his stance and urge the Federal Government to treat owners and trainers in the racing industry as a special case, at the very least in the same way that the Federal Government has treated the arts community and the farming community? Hon N.F. MOORE

(1)-(2) I am happy to consider that proposition. It sounds like a positive way forward and I am happy to see whether something can be done about it.
