ILLICIT DRUGS — WASTEWATER TESTING
1049. Hon NEIL THOMSON to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
(1) Can the
minister please advise whether the Department of Health regularly tests wastewater
in regional communities to assess illicit drug-use levels?
(2) If yes to (1), how often is the
testing conducted?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) If yes to
(1), can the minister please provide relevant testing data for the last three
years for the following Kimberley towns —
(a) Broome;
(b) Derby;
(c) Kununurra;
(d) Fitzroy Crossing; and
(e) Halls Creek?

(1)–(4) The
state government does not conduct wastewater testing. The Australian Criminal
Intelligence Commission is responsible for the National Wastewater Drug
Monitoring Program with reports published and available on its website.
