ROAD
SAFETY — NOVICE DRIVER REFORMS
691. Mrs M.H. ROBERTS to the Minister for Police:
I ask a supplementary question. With just three days of
Parliament left, will the minister commit to the house that she will introduce
the novice driver reforms as recommended by the Road Safety Council after two
to three years of consultation, and after a commitment by her government to do
so?

AnswerView source ↗

When I am satisfied that the novice driver package has a
sound scientific basis, I will bring the novice driver reform package to
Parliament and to the community.
Mrs M.H. Roberts :
Are you a better judge than the Road Safety Council and all the experts?
The
SPEAKER : I give the call to the member for Swan Hills.
Mrs
M.H. Roberts : And what responsibility will you take if there's a
similar crash here?
Mrs
L.M. Harvey : How dare you politicise the deaths of children!
Mrs M.H. Roberts :
How dare you sit and do nothing!
Mr M.W. Sutherland interjected.
The SPEAKER : I will
start with you, member for Mount Lawley. I formally call you to order for the
first time. I do not need to hear from anybody. Member for Midland, I formally
call you to order for the second time today. Minister for Police, I formally
call you to order for the first time today. I do not need to hear anyone on my
left talking, member for Bassendean.
