MOURAMBINE KARIYARRA SITES
176. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Minister
for Aboriginal Affairs:
I refer to a letter dated 5 February
2013 received by me from the minister about the assessment of Mourambine Kariyarra
sites 1 to 14 that stated the information
had been received and would be presented to the Aboriginal Cultural Material
Committee for assessment on 13 March 2013; the answer to question 1176 of 15 October
2015; the answer to question 182 of 13 June 2013; and the answer to question
943 of 13 November 2012.
(1) Have the Mourambine Kariyarra
sites 1 to 14 been assessed by the ACMC?
(2) If yes to (1), when and what is
their status?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) If no to (1), what is their
status?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question.
(1) No.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) Approximately 15 800 lodged heritage places are on
the Aboriginal heritage inquiry system, including the Mourambine Kariyarra
sites 1 to 14, awaiting assessment by the Aboriginal Cultural Material
Committee.
(4) Mourambine
Kariyarra sites 1 to 14 remain classified as lodged and information on these
sites is publicly available on the department's Aboriginal heritage
inquiry system.
