I refer to the
government's promise that the Australind train service would return to operation between Bunbury and Perth in early
2026, following its withdrawal from service in 2023.
(1) Will the Australind service resume operations before the
conclusion of the first quarter of 2026?
(2) Will the government confirm a date
for the recommencement of the service?

honourable member for some notice of the question and provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport. This answer was correct as at
Thursday 26 February.
(1)–(2) Dynamic testing of the new Australind railcars began last September and is
now taking place on the South West main line between Byford and Bunbury. A
recommencement date will be announced soon.
Hon Stephen Dawson: I ask that the business of the
house be resumed. Can I at the same time wish Hon Andrew O'Donnell a happy
birthday today.
The President: The business of the house is resumed,
and I also had reminded myself to wish the Deputy Chair of Committees a happy
birthday.
