I refer to the hospital code yellow emergencies, and I ask : (a) Please provide the total number of code yellows issued by health service providers, in the Perth metropolitan area, with a breakdown by hospital for the months of May, June and July 2025; and (b) Please provide the total number of code yellows issued by health service providers, in regional areas, with a breakdown by hospital for the months of May, June and July 2025?

The term “code yellow” refers to an internal emergency in a hospital and is a trigger to activate a response. A Code Yellow emergency can be called for a range of issues including infrastructure issues (including ICT issues related to patient care), chemical spills, environmental factors (i.e. severe weather), capacity issues or missing patients. WA Country Health Service does not use Code Yellow to denote bed or staff shortages.
A Code Yellow notification does not mean Emergency Departments are not able to accept additional patients.
