I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) I assume
the member is referring to commercial construction contracts. Although the
Building Commission division of the Department of Commerce deals with
workmanship complaints under commercial construction contracts, these are few
in number. Accordingly, the commission does not capture building complaint data
other than for home building work contract complaints.
(2) Since 1 January
2012, the following complaints were received pursuant to the Building Services
(Complaint Resolution and Administration) Act 2011: 2012–13, 177; 2013–14,
194; 2014–15 up to 31 December 2014, 91.
(3) The
cancellation of a builder's registration is a last resort, usually
resulting from a series of serious breaches. No builder's registration
has been cancelled as a result of a single complaint.
