I refer to Budget Paper No. 2, Volume 2 at page 437, "Services and Key Efficiency Indicators – Explanation of Significant Movements", and ask given the additional resources provided to the Coroners Court in recent years, why is a reduced number of finalisations expected in 2014-15?

The reference to "
a reduced number of finalisations
" relates to the 2013-14 results. The capacity of the four Coroners was reduced in 2013-14 due to one Coroner focusing on the completion of the Grayland's Inquest (involving 10 cases) over a period of six months.
The additional resources attached to the Coroner's Court have seen significant reductions in the number of backlog cases and cases on hand. In 2012-13 and 2013-14 the number of finalisations exceeded the number of new cases received for the first time in a number of years. This trend is expected to continue in 2014-15.
