(1) There are a total of 341 available inactive beds in public hospitals in Western Australia. Health Service Total number of Available Inactive beds Women's and Children's Nil. North Metropolitan Area 78 South Metropolitan Area 139 WA Country 124 NOTE: Available inactive beds are those beds within ward areas into which patients cannot currently be allocated, i.e. are closed for any number of operational management issues such as infection control, staffing, clinical, demand management, ward maintenance etc. (2) (a) Royal Perth Hospital - Nil available inactive beds (b) Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital - 15 multiday available inactive beds (c) Fremantle Hospital - 47 available inactive beds (3) There are a total of 5 072 available active beds in public hospitals in Western Australia.
