I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(5) As at 30 June each year, the following social
housing dwellings were available: 711 in 2018; 708 in 2019; 705 in 2020; and
701 in 2021. Reporting under local government area or shire was not captured
under the previous government and data is not available for 2017. The
Department of Communities is unable to provide data on community housing
vacancies because these properties are managed by the community housing
organisations.
As of 31 May 2021, there were 27
vacant public housing properties in the City of Busselton. As at that date, 21 were undergoing maintenance works to
re-let. Six require further assessment or are being considered for
redevelopment. The department does not report on the average time properties
are vacant by local government area or shire.
The Department of Communities aims to
re-let vacated properties as soon as possible, ensuring that they are clean,
safe and in good working order.
