DEPARTMENT
FOR CHILD PROTECTION AND FAMILY SUPPORT — STAFF WITH DISABILITY
65. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to staff with disability in the Department for Child
Protection and Family Support.
(1) Why has the number of staff with disability decreased
from 40 in 2011, to 32 in 2014?
(2) What is the current number of staff
with disability in the Department for Child Protection and Family Support?
(3) How many staff with disability have
had redundancy approved in the past three years?
(4) Will the minister table the
department's policy as it relates to equal opportunity employment for
people with disability?
(5) In the past 12 months, how many people with disability
have been employed by the department?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of
the question.
(1) These
figures must be considered within the context of the department's
separation rate, which was 9.9 per cent at 31 December 2014. The number of
employees with disabilities as reported by the department is dependent on
whether employees choose to disclose this information to the department. Some
employees will choose not to disclose this information, and it is therefore
likely that these figures are understated.
(2) There are 31 staff.
(3) One member of staff.
(4) The
department's ''Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 20l3–l7''
contains strategies to enable people with disabilities to have the same
opportunities as others to obtain and maintain employment with the department.
A copy of the plan is tabled.
(5) Of current employees with disabilities, three have
commenced in the past 12 months.
