I refer to the Gordon Inquiry and ask -
(1) Recommendation 37 says the inquiry supports the Aboriginal family violence initiatives outlined in the Department for Community Development submission to the inquiry. Will the Minister provide a copy of that submission?
(2) A reference on page 364 of the report is a report from the Indigenous Affairs Advisory Committee working group on child abuse in Aboriginal communities of May 2002. Will the Minister provide a copy of this report?

(1 & 2) In 2002 the Government committed $75 million over four years to enable 15 Departments to implement its response to the 197 recommendations outlined in the Report of The Inquiry into Response by Government Agencies to Complaints of Family Violence and Child Abuse in Aboriginal Communities (Gordon Inquiry). This included $66.5 million in new funding. The ongoing implementation of the Government's response has resulted in a range of new programs and initiatives delivered to Indigenous communities throughout the state since 2002, by a number of agencies, including the Department for Community Development. Considerable progress has therefore been made since the two documents referred to by the Member were produced. These two documents were provided to members of the Inquiry four years ago (in the 2001-02 financial year) as background information to their deliberations. It is pleasing that the members of the Inquiry found the information useful at that time, and particularly pleasing that they endorsed the Department for Community Development's directions as outlined in its submission. However, the Government's Action Plan - Putting People First - The Western Australian State Government Action Plan for Addressing Family Violence and Child Abuse in Aboriginal Communities (November 2002) is a more recent document and comprehensively foreshadowed the Government's current directions in this area. It would therefore be of more use to the Member. It is publicly available at www.gordonresponse.dpc .wa.gov.au
