I refer to the Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services (OICS) Report into an Announced Inspection of the West Kimberley Regional Prison (2017), noting that Recommendation 14 was to re-examine prison priorities and procedures to better meet the cultural needs of
Kimberley Aboriginal prisoners, and develop a stronger and sustained program of
activities to facilitate cultural expression, and ask: (a) does the Minister accept this recommendation: (i) if not, why not; (b) when will this recommendation be implemented; and (c) is the Minister concerned that the OICS considered there to be little understanding of the cultural needs of Kimberley-based Aboriginal prisoners and if so, what does he intend to do to rectify the situation?
