(1) The increase in service kilometres for trains in 2013-14 was approximately 4.8 per cent.
(2) The increase was a result of a greater number of special events that occurred in 2013-14.
In addition, weekend timetabled services were also strengthened (i.e. three car sets being increased to six car sets and two car sets being increased to four car sets) due to increasing weekend patronage.
