WATER SUPPLY —
DRYLAND AREAS
199. Mr P.J. RUNDLE to the Minister for Water:
I have a supplementary question. I would
note that I am also asking on behalf of your constituents in Jerramungup as
well, Mr Speaker.
The SPEAKER : Member, you
cannot do that. I am the Speaker, I am not the member for Albany, so you cannot
refer to my electorate.
Mr M.P. Murray interjected.
The SPEAKER : Minister, I call
you to order for the second time.
Mr P.J. RUNDLE : Will the
minister please table the advice that his department has provided to farmers
and landholders in the rainfall deficient areas in regard to accessing water
for livestock and homes?

Member, a lot of that is verbal
advice. In these circumstances, people want to know what water is available, so
we do not sit down and write a ministerial statement or a briefing note. A lot
of that advice is verbal. If the member actually wants to find out what is
happening, I am more than happy to give him a briefing on it. Member for Roe,
my advice is: do not come in here and try to score cheap political points when
people in your area are suffering. Our departments are working —
Mr P.J. Rundle : I'm
bringing it to your attention.
Mr D.J. KELLY : The one thing
that we on this side cannot do is make it rain. We cannot make it rain.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Minister, can
you get to the end. It is a supplementary question, not a speech.
Mr D.J. KELLY : The former Minister
for Water gets very agitated on this issue, because she knows that when she had
the chance to do something in this area, she did nothing.
