ENERGYSAFETY INVESTIGATION — ELECTRIC SHOCK
— MANDURAH
1316. Hon KATE DOUST to the Minister for Commerce:
I refer to the
electrocution of two schoolchildren in Mandurah on l6 March this year, and the
subsequent investigation by EnergySafety .
(1) Why has it taken eight months and there
is still no publicly released final report from the ministerXXX ###XXXs
agency regarding this serious incident?
(2) What has the
minister done to ensure the report is completed and publicly released as soon
as possible?
(3) When will the
final report on this incident be released?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1)–(3) A public report cannot be
issued as this may prejudice the investigation or any subsequent prosecution
action. If prosecution action is taken, the details will be available to the
public via the court. It would not be appropriate for me, as minister, in
either my Attorney General or Commerce capacities, to comment on or intervene
in the investigation. However, I am satisfied that EnergySafety is proceeding appropriately and professionally.
