ROYAL ASSOCIATION OF
JUSTICES
997. Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN to the Leader of the House
representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the Royal Association of
Justices of Western Australia Inc.
(1) What facilities or funding does
the government provide the association?
(2) Is the
Attorney General satisfied that the association is abiding by its rules and
compliant with its legal obligations?
(3) If no to (2), what breaches have been drawn to his
attention, by whom and when, and what action has he taken?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The
Department of Justice provides accommodation and facilities for the Royal
Association of Justices WA at the Magistrates Court, 501 Hay Street, Perth.
(2)–(3) The
Attorney General has received, or been copied into, various emails from past
and present RAJWA members relating to allegations concerning RAJWA's
obligations under and compliance with the Associations Incorporations Act 2015.
This act falls under the commerce and industrial relations portfolio, and the
member should direct his queries to the Minister for Commerce and Industrial
Relations. The Attorney General is not involved in the operations of
independent associations incorporated under this act. However, it should be
noted that the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety's
guidelines outline that complaints, disputes and grievances should initially be
managed internally by the relevant incorporated association through their own
dispute resolution procedures. Should the need arise, an incorporated
association may seek external assistance from a professional resolution
service, the State Administrative Tribunal or a court, subject to the nature of
the dispute.
