I refer to the most recent charges against sex offender Gary Narkle, and to the statement by the Commissioner of Police of 31 May that it is a requirement that the Minister for Police and Emergency Services be briefed promptly on matters likely to be controversial or involving people in the public eye. (1) Given Narkle’s high profile, will the Premier advise the house whether the Minister for Police and Emergency Services was briefed by the Commissioner of Police about the new complaint against Narkle? (2) If so, when did she receive that briefing? (3) Why did it take three months from the reporting of the new offences for charges to be laid? Dr G.I. GALLOP
