102. Mrs L.M. HARVEY to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
Given that in his answer the Premier made a commitment to disclose as much
information to the community as he could, when will he disclose to the public
of Western Australia the advice of the health department about how many people
can expect to contract this disease to reduce uncertainty and fear in the
community?

I just provided that information. I am
advised that was the commonwealth Department of Health's advice across
Australia, and that is the expectation. The unfortunate coincidence is that
August is the peak of the flu season, so one of the points of the ordinary
influenza season. One of the pieces of advice we have provided to the public of
Western Australia, going back some days or weeks now, is the simple matter of
washing hands and using tissues or hankies. Also, when the flu virus
vaccination becomes available, which I am advised it will during the second
half of April and May, people should obtain the vaccination. That will assist
people in dealing with the flu virus as opposed to the coronavirus. Clearly, I do
not want to downplay the situation. This is a serious health situation facing Western
Australia and Australia. We are doing everything we can to provide information
and advice to the public, and we will do everything we can to keep the public
of Western Australia as safe as possible.
