With reference to the allocation of Department of Environment and Conservation funds in the 2011–2012 Budget Statement, Paper No. 2, Volume 2, page 823, I ask:
(a) what funds are currently held in the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery (WARR) account;
(b) what is currently being expended on and what expenditure is planned from the account in the next 12 months;
(c) is the six per cent attributed to administration of the WARR account deducted prior to the distribution of the landfill levy to Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) funding and the WARR account or after the distribution; and
(d) if the six per cent is deducted after the distribution from the landfill levy, are these funds drawn from the WARR account or the DEC division of the funds?

(a) The balance in the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Account was $15.849 million as at 23 June 2011.
(b) Expenditure of $13.006 million has been approved for the 2011/12 financial year on a range of activities including data collection, grants such as the regional funding program and household hazardous waste, strategic partnerships, recycling programs and staffing costs.
(c) Administration costs are deducted after the levy funds have been distributed to the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Account.
(d) In accordance with s80(1)(c) of the
Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2007
, administration costs are paid from the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Account.
