(a) It is anticipated all units will be commissioned state-wide by 30 August 2008.
(b) The acquisition and commissioning costs of 230 replacement and 25 additional new units is $3.9million.
(c) No.
(d) Not applicable.
(e) Old technologies have contributed to breakdowns occurring, leading to failures in business continuity.
The benefits of the new equipment include:
· 4 DVD's of interview made in the first instance:
· Master Copy;
· Copy immediately available for the defendant or approved representative;
· Copy immediately available for DPP; and
· Working copy for the attending Police.
· Reduction in workload for the custodian of tapes, no longer having to duplicate copies for service.
· Reduction in physical storage volume of Master DVD for retention.
· Advanced technology guarantees 100 year archive quality grade of DVD.
· Inclusion of 40 portable confessional recording units for rapid deployment.
· Automatic adjustments for daylight savings configurations.
· Capacity to be remotely diagnosed over the WAPOL network if required.
