Minister for Transport:
I
refer to the media release of Sunday, 2 June titled ''Tonkin Gap

(1) Will the
minister provide a list of all the works in the contract that relate to the
Morley–Ellenbrook line; and, if not, why not?
(2) What is the total cost
associated with the works relating to the Morley–Ellenbrook line?
(3) Can the minister confirm that
the project has blown out from $290 million to $400 million?
(4) What is the expected completion
date of the project?

I thank the Leader of the
Opposition for some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) The
Tonkin gap project, with a contract value of $400 million, includes a range of
enabling works for the Morley–Ellenbrook line, such as dive and
underpass structures, a rail bridge, a bus and road bridge, pier protection to
all structures on the Tonkin corridor, barriers separating road and rail
infrastructure, and drainage and rail formation works. As per the media
statement dated 12 May 2020, the entire Tonkin gap project is expected to be
completed in 2023.
