I refer to the difficulty many regional people have in accessing General Practitioner (GP) services, and ask:
(a) what action has the Minister taken to address GP shortages in regional areas; and
(b) is the Minister willing to increase the number of salaried doctors attached to State Government health facilities in regional areas to provide GP services to those communities; and
(i) if not, why not; and
(ii) if yes, when will the Minister appoint those doctors?

I am aware of the shortage of GPs in regional areas however private GP services fall outside the jurisdiction of the Western Australian Government. I am liaising with the Commonwealth Government to seek a solution to the shortage.
