The WA Government is very sympathetic to those who have been affected by the collapse of the Sterling Group and recognise that many of them have lost their life savings. The WA Government, including representatives from the Premier’s office, have met with the group.
It’s important to note that this was an investment scheme which falls under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth Government. As such, ASIC has investigated the scheme, and three individuals connected to Sterling First have now been charged for their role.
The WA Government has advocated to the Commonwealth Government, on behalf of the Sterling Group victims, to request they be protected in any compensation scheme.
