STRAITS SALT PTY LTD — ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AUTHORITY REPORT 41. Hon GIZ WATSON to the Minister for Environment: (1) Is the minister aware of the Environmental Protection Authority Report 1295, dated 23 July 2008, relating to a proposal by Straits Salt Pty Ltd? (2) Is the minister aware that, following a two-year investigation, the EPA rejected the proposal because it posed an unacceptable risk to the Exmouth Gulf ecosystem, and took the unprecedented step of not proposing any conditions that would enable the project to proceed? (3) Will the minister support the EPA’s advice and reject the Straits Salt proposal? (4) If no to (3), why not? Hon DONNA FARAGHER
