YONGAH
HILL IMMIGRATION DETENTION CENTRE
226. Hon DARREN WEST to the
Attorney General representing the Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to media reports that over half of the detainees held
at Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre are foreign nationals who have
committed offences and been sentenced to incarceration within the Western
Australian judicial system.
(1) Is the
Western Australian government contributing to the cost of any of these Western
Australian judicial system prisoners at Yongah Hill; and, if so, for how many
prisoners?
(2) What is the cost per day of detaining an individual at
Yongah Hill?
(3) How much
of the cost in question (2) is the Western Australian government contributing
for each prisoner sentenced under the Western Australian judicial system?
(4) Do any
other states have prisoners who were sentenced in their jurisdictions
incarcerated at Yongah Hill?
