POLICE —
LONG-TERM SICK LEAVE
206. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
(1) How many police officers are
currently on long-term sick leave?
(2) Of those officers referred to
in (1), how many are on long-term sick leave for mental health reasons?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the Leader of the
Opposition for some notice of the question.
The Western Australia Police Force
advises —
(1) There are 227.
(2) Excluding the
reasons provided for the medical retirements process, the Western Australia
Police Force cannot identify specific
reasons for long-term sick leave taken by officers. It should be noted that
employees can produce medical evidence to the satisfaction of the agency
and choose not to give detailed information on their personnel profile or when
submitting leave requests.
