With regard to the Conservation Commission, I ask: (a) how many hectares of land in Western Australia are in conservation reserves; (b) how many hectares of land in Western Australia are in conservation reserves recognised as meeting the standards of the International Union for Conservation and Nature categories I to IV; and (c) how much money does the State Government contribute annually to the preservation and maintenance of conservation reserves?

(a) As at 30 June 2013, 18 194 040 hectares were within conservation reserves vested in the Conservation Commission of Western Australia under the
Conservation and Land Management Act 1984
(CALM Act), including national parks, conservation parks, nature reserves and land vested under part 5(1)g and 5(1)h of the CALM Act.
(b) As at 30 June 2013, 18 052 809 hectares of the conservation reserves included at part (a) above met the standards of the International Union for Conservation and Nature categories I to IV.
(c) The Department of Parks and Wildlife has a budget of $290 764 000 in 2013-14 and the majority of these funds contribute either directly or indirectly to the management of conservation reserves.
