I answer on behalf of the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Water. Never have I missed Hon Colin
Holt so much! I advise as follows —
(1) The total
surface water storage required at the end of winter for the integrated water
supply scheme to meet demand in 2016–17 is about 160 gigalitres. This
varies from year to year with factors such as projected demand and planned
volumes from groundwater and desalination sources.
(2) Following
winter 2016, the total surface water storage peaked at about 212 gigalitres,
ensuring adequate supplies for the IWSS in 2016–17, providing the
community of Western Australia continue to play their role in conserving water.
(3) Not
applicable.
