POLICE —
AUTHORISED STRENGTH
719. Ms M. BEARD to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
Does the Premier accept that the significant FTE shortfall has impacted the government's ability to keep more police
on the roads and deliver on the outcomes of the recent road safety summit?

As I said, there are a record number
of police in the Western Australia Police Force today. There are over 700 more
police than when the member's party was in government. She uses
language like ''record shortfall'', and we say there is actually a record number of police. The
member can continue to simply ignore the facts but the facts are the facts; that is, we have more police on the beat today than we have ever had. As
a result, we see downward pressure on a range of criminal activities.
