(1) In terms of my Indigenous Affairs portfolio I can advise that the Department of Indigenous Affairs has responsibility for the administration of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 (the Act). The Act makes provision for the preservation of places and objects used by or traditional to the original inhabitants of Australia or their descendants.
