(e) why has the Treasurer banned the use of Toyota Landcruiser 200 and 70 series in the Government Fleet, when they offer superior safety options to the contemporary Nissan Patrol, including ESC, front, side, roll over and curtain head protection airbags and seat belt reminder systems, when by the Government’s calculations, death and serious injury could be reduced by 40 per cent or a staggering 65 lives per annum;
(f) is the safety of many thousands of Government workers whose reliance on four wheel drives, particularly in remote Western Australia, at risk;
(g) is the Treasurer’s ban contrary to the Government’s own safety campaign; and

(a) For the 2007/2008 financial year the Safer Vehicle campaign budget is $950,000. This is divided between $675,000 (Office of Road Safety), and $275,000 allocated from the Royal Automobile Club.
(b) The media allocation paid to MarketForce for the campaign is $790,000. This is divided between the Office of Road Safety ($560,000) and the Royal Automobile Club ($230,000) for the financial year 2007/2008.
(c) A total of $262,049 has been spent on producing the TV commercials for the Safer Vehicles campaign.
Of this: $253,305 ex GST for production of TVC called "Perfect Life" produced in 2006 and
$8,744 ex GST for production of "ESC" TVC (Ad obtained from Transport Accident Commission, Victoria)
(d) The ESC component of the campaign is $555,744 made up of $547,000 for media and $8,744 for production, this financial year.
