Since May 2011 for each Government Department or Agency under the Minister’s control, including the Ministerial Office, I ask:
(a) are media monitoring services provided, and if yes:
(i) which firm or firms currently provide a media monitoring service;
(b) what is the cost of the contract/s;
(c) since 1 June 2010 how much has been paid for media monitoring services;
(d) what is the duration of the contract/s; and
(e) when did the contract/s commence?

(b) The average cost of the service per month is $5156.24 (including GST). Please note, this cost includes the copyright and does not include variable charges such as audio, video and transcript orders. Monthly costs vary and are dependent upon the volume of the coverage provided. Fixed costs per month include the monitoring retainer fee of $585.76 and web hosting fee of $319.34.
(c) Over the past 18 months, since 1 June 2010, $85 468.80 has been spent (including GST).
(d) The service commenced in 2002 and has been renewed on an annual basis.
(e) Services commenced with Media Monitors on 1 January 2002.
Landgate
(a) Yes.
(i) Media Monitors Pty Ltd, Strawberry Hills, NSW.
(b) There is no contract. The service is provided on a monthly retainer basis as per letter of agreement dated 16 April 2007.
· Monitoring Service Digital per month is $644.34 inc GST.
· Web Hosting Monitoring per month is $351.27 inc GST.
· Plus copyright, clip and transcript fees, as required.

A tender process is currently being conducted by the Department of Finance and once concluded a contract will be awarded to the successful supplier.
