I refer to teachers in WA public schools, and I ask: (a) What is the average number of personal leave days taken by school teachers in the 2025 school year; and (b) Please provide the equivalent answer to (a) for each of the following school years: (i) 2024; (ii) 2023; (iii) 2022; (iv) 2021; (v) 2020; (vi) 2019; (vii) 2018; and (viii) 2017?

All paid and unpaid sick leave, short leave, family carers leave and personal leave entitlements have been included in the data provided, noting average is calculated by full time equivalent (FTE). Since 1 April 2023, staff with available personal leave have been required to utilise that leave for COVID-19 related absences. Workforce growth and/or improved leave entitlements under successive Enterprise Bargaining Agreements contributed to the increases.
