(1) Total expenditure from the Department of Environment and Conservation's (DEC) bushfire suppression appropriation in 2011-12 in the south west of the state, comprising DEC's Warren, South West and Swan regions, was $24.1 million.
(2) DEC's bushfire suppression budget for 2012-13 is $21.9 million. This is held centrally and is not pre-allocated by location, as the funding is utilised as required in accordance with where bushfires occur. If total expenditure exceeds the budget, DEC seeks supplementary funding.
