BANKSIA HILL DETENTION CENTRE AND UNIT 18 DETAINEES
885. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the minister representing the
Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to the media reports
following last week's coronial inquest that unit 18 detainees could be
returned to the B anksia Hill Detention
Centre once the IT project at the Jasper wing, which is estimated to take the
next four months , is completed.
(1) How many superintendents has
unit 18 had since it opened in 2022?
(2) How many young people were at unit 18 and Banksia
Hill Detention Centre respectively on 14 August 2024?
(3) Will the
minister set a date and commit to closing unit 18 immediately or as soon as
works on the Jasper wing are completed?
