1072. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the press statement
released by the Minister for Health on 15 October 2019 titled ''Remembering
little lives lost and protecting their memories''.
(1) Will the minister detail the work undertaken by
the Department of Health and LandCorp on the preservation of the memorial rose garden and Harvey House since
the statement's release, including any work undertaken on the
resolution of any matters concerning the current land title?
(2) Has the
conservation management plan been completed for Harvey House and its surrounds,
including the garden; and, if yes, will the minister table a copy of the plan?
(3) If no to (2), why not, and when
does the minister expect it to be completed?

(1) As matters are heading to finalisation, I undertake
to provide the member with an update as soon as practicable.
(2) A
conservation management plan for Harvey House has been completed, which covers
the conservation of Harvey House itself and some guidance on development
context and future development if required. The plan will be used as a guide
when assessing works and development, both to Harvey House and its immediate
environs, by approving authorities and the Heritage Council of Western Australia.
It is not intended for the plan to be tabled in Parliament as it is a document
that will need to be updated and reviewed over time as conservation works are
completed. The plan acknowledges the memorial garden as a zone of some
significance, as defined in the Australia International Council on Monuments
and Sites charter for the conservation of places of cultural significance. The
plan would be shared with any organisation to which the sites might be
transferred or divested in the future to ensure any works at both Harvey House
and the garden are in keeping with the plan.
