1430. Hon KATE DOUST to the
Minister for Commerce:
I refer to WorkSafe.
(1) How many workplace fatalities are currently under investigation by
WorkSafe?
(2) How many full-time equivalent inspectors does WorkSafe have and
where are they located?
(3) How many prosecutions have been
undertaken by WorkSafe under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 and
the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 for the 2014–15
reporting period; and, of those, how many were successful and how many were
unsuccessful?
(4) How many prosecutions are pending and what are the offence dates for
those?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) There are 14 workplace fatalities actively being investigated by
WorkSafe inspectors at this time.
(2) There are 93 FTE positions allocated
across the following locations: Perth, Albany, Bunbury, Geraldton and Broome;
and 89 positions are currently filled.
(3) Seventeen prosecutions were completed
during the 2014–15 reporting period. Of those, 13 were successful and
four were unsuccessful.
(4) Fourteen investigations have been
progressed to WorkSafe's legal services for prosecution consideration.
Offence dates are 10 July 2013, 15 August 2013, 9 September 2013, 9 September
2013, 10 September 2013, 10 September 2013, 11 September 2013, 23 September 2013, 23 September 2013, 22 October 2013,
16 January 2014, 14 February 2014, 20 July 2014 and 5 August 2014.
