I refer to question without notice 1549 on 20 November 2003 and to the Auditor General’s adverse report on the management of food safety in Western Australia by the Department of Health. (1) When will the proposed food Bill be introduced into Parliament? (2) Given that the chapter 3 of the food safety standards were agreed to by the federal, state and territory health ministers in July 2000, why has it taken so long for the proposed food Bill to reach this stage? Hon SUE ELLERY

(2) Although the food Bill is an important piece of legislation, the member is aware of the significant number of Bills that have been received by the Legislative Council.
