c. The Department of Aboriginal Affairs provides grants and sponsorships under its Community Development Grants and Sponsorship program and its Preserving our Aboriginal Sites Grants program.
The assessment criteria for the Community Development Grants and Sponsorship program includes programs that demonstrate value for money, have clearly identified expected benefits for Aboriginal communities and people in Western Australia, and are aligned to objectives within the
Department of Aboriginal Affairs Strategic Framework 2012-2014
.
Grants are not designed to provide funding for programs that are the responsibility of other agencies. The Department of Aboriginal Affairs makes referrals to other agencies and collaborates with agencies such as Lotterywest.
The assessment criteria for the Heritage Grants Program includes programs that demonstrate sustainable long-term heritage benefits, innovation, public benefit and increased awareness of Aboriginal heritage, as well as opportunities and benefits for Aboriginal people and organisations.
f. Officers of the Department of Aboriginal Affairs assess against the criteria and members of the Department of Aboriginal Affairs Corporate Executive approve all applications for its grants and sponsorship programs.
