I refer to page 670 of the 2009–2010 State Budget, under
New Works
and I ask:
(1) Does the Minister know how many heritage-listed buildings there are in Western Australia; and
(a) if not why not; and
(b) if so, how many?
(2) How does the Minister determine a figure of $1.7 million for heritage maintenance and on what basis does the Minister make this decision?

(1) Yes.
(a) Not applicable.
(b) As at 27 July 2009, there are 1,288 places on the State Register of Heritage Places.
(2) The figure of $1.7 million for heritage maintenance (on page 670 of the State Budget) relates to the Department of Culture and the Arts, not the Department of Heritage. This is not part of my portfolio.
