ROE
HIGHWAY STAGE 8 — PLANNING CONTROL AREA 120
1285. Hon SUE ELLERY to the
minister representing the Minister for Planning:
I refer to planning control area 120 recently declared by the
minister.
(1) Who are
the current owners of the declared land?
(2) For what
purpose is the planning control area declaration required?
(3) Why was a
metropolitan region scheme amendment not commenced in 2013 for these areas as
identified by the Environmental Protection Authority?
(4) Under this
declaration will land be acquired by the Western Australian Planning Commission
and what lots will be acquired?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1) The current
owners are the state government and Murdoch University.
(2) The planning
control area is needed to protect a small amount of land that may be required
for the Roe Highway stage 8 extension
between Stock Road and Karel Avenue. These areas
accommodate Environmental Protection Authority requirements and drainage works.
(3) An MRS
amendment was not initiated in 2013 because environmental approvals were not in
place until October 2015. It is important to ensure that before an MRS
amendment process commences, no further modifications are made to the area of
land required to facilitate the extension.
(4) No, land will
not be acquired by the WAPC.
