representing the Minister for Health:
(1) Will the
minister list the membership of the WA Ambulance Standing Committee, including
the name of each person, their position title and whether they are employed by the
Department of Health or St John Ambulance?
(2) What are the standing committee's
terms of reference?
(3) Over the last
12 months, how many times and on what dates has the WA Ambulance Standing
Committee met?
(4) Does the WA Ambulance Standing
Committee report to the minister?

Terms of reference
The
purpose of the Committee
� provide
strategic and policy advice in respect to the provision of ambulance services
by SJA in Western Australia (WA);
� provide a unifying
link between the Department of Health (DoH) as System Manager, Health Service
Providers and SJA to enable complex, clinical or strategic issues to be
discussed;
� provide a forum
for data, performance and reporting matters to be discussed between DoH and
SJA; and
� provide
strategic input to the ongoing development of the SJA metropolitan and
country pre hospital care model.
The
Committee will:
� provide advice
on strategic planning for SJA ambulance services;
� oversee priority
clinical and service delivery initiatives;
� develop and
review safety and quality strategies;
� discuss and
develop alternative pre-hospital care pathways and strategic partnerships;
� identify
priority issues for the contracted service;
� discuss trends
in ambulance, ramping, off-stretcher and emergency department presentation
activity and ensure a shared understanding of these matters;
� monitor sentinel
events; and
� monitor the
achievement of SJA's key performance targets.
(3) Planning and
issues relevant to the contract with St John Ambulance have been managed
primarily through regular contract and operational meetings between the Department
of Health and St John Ambulance. The next meeting of the WA Ambulance Standing
Committee is scheduled for 26 October 2016.
(4) The committee is responsible to
the director general of Health.
