I refer to the recent re-painting of the entrances to the Northbridge Tunnel and ask: (a) was this re-painting part of a tender process: (i) if so, on what date was the tender advertised and awarded; and (ii) if not, why not; (b) why was the re-painting considered necessary and what was the extent of the re-painting; (c) what was the total cost of the re-painting; and (d) how many individual painters were engaged: (i) how many of these painters were of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent?

(i) Not applicable
(ii) The works were delivered as part of the existing Operation and Maintenance Contract for the Graham Farmer Freeway Tunnel.
(b) The finish of the retaining walls was deteriorating and becoming being heavily stained. Furthermore, the appearance of the murals had degraded heavily and they were in need of restoration.
The extent of the works was to clean, repaint, restore and apply anti-graffiti coating to the retaining walls at the eastern and western tunnel entrances and to the murals.
