659. Hon JAMES HAYWARD to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to remuneration structure
for surgeons working at Bunbury Hospital.
(1) Are surgeons
employed at Bunbury Hospital paid a fixed wage, or are they paid according to
how many surgeries they perform?
(2) If they are
paid according to how many surgeries they perform, how much are they paid for
each surgery?
(3) Will the minister review the
remuneration of surgeons at Bunbury Regional Hospital?
(4) If no to (3), why not?

(1)–(4) Surgeons employed by WA Country Health Service are
paid a salary in accordance with the Health S ystem Medical Practitioners—Industrial
Agreement 2022. Surgeons engaged as independent contractors are paid on a fee-for-service
arrangement in accordance with the WA government medical services schedule . This schedule is reviewed periodically
against the Medicare Benefits Schedule. However, the MBS pricing is set
out by the federal government.
