I refer you to the current state of the Manjimup Police Station building and ask -
(1) Is the Minister aware of the current situation relating to the state of the Manjimup Police Station building?
(2) Is the Minister aware that the current building has:
(a) No disabled / wheel chair access;
(b) No covered walk way into the station;
(c) No waiting area within the station;
(d) No general interview room other than for criminal interview which therefore provides no privacy and protection for victims;
(e) No safety facilities for officers and staff of the station;
(f) No overnight holding cells;
(g) White ant infestation;
(h) No facility to interface efficiently with the public;
(i) Become outgrown with the increased number of officers currently deployed from the station?
(3) Can the Minister advise if a budget has been allocated to the upgrading of the Manjimup Police Station?
(4) If not, why not?
(5) Is the Minister aware that tenders are currently being called for termite damaged rafters and re-stumping of foundations and that these repairs are estimated to cost $250,000 plus an additional $150,000 for upgrading the current holding cell with video monitoring?
(6) Will expenditure of $400,000 address the fundamental problems associated with the current station?
(7) Will the Minister consider fully funding the total replacement cost of a new and modern Police Station in Manjimup?
(8) Will the Minister consider a partnership approach to providing a new and modern Police Station in Manjimup between private enterprise and the government as per the Australia Post model of a Private / Public Partnership?

When privacy is  required for interviews, the Officer In Charges' office, or other appropriate areas within the Station are utilised. (e) WA Police maintain the building in a condition that it is a safe  working environment for officers and staff at the Station. (f) A safe holding cell will be included as part of current works. (g) The Department of Housing and Works has confirmed that there is no  current termite activity at the Station. Termite activity restoration maintenance work is scheduled in 2006 to repair timber damaged as a result of termite activity.
