I refer to the proposed Western Australian State Government office in Kenya and the Premier’s comments in Budget Estimates in August 2013 that he hoped to open a “full office” in Nairobi “in the next year or so,” and I ask: (a) what is the current status of the Office in terms of location, staffing and other operational matters; and (b) when is it expected that the full Office will open?

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet advises:
(a)-(b) The Department does not currently operate from an office in Nairobi. It is represented by a consultant based in Nairobi but engaged through the Department's office operated in Dubai.
Following the recent successful visit to South Africa and Zambia by the Premier the Department continues to monitor progress in developing this emerging market for Western Australia. The current Government operations in this region are considered appropriate for achieving the State's objectives. This situation will be monitored over the coming 12 months.
